Success, they say, tastes sweet. And if one is to go by the celebrations of the scores of fans of actor Vijay on Tuesday, one would have no problems in agreeing with that statement.
Vijay's 'Velayudham', which released for Deepavali, has been doing exceptionally well in most centres where it is being screened. The film, which was released worldwide, has been declared a box office hit in around 800 centres.Says a source, "Within a week of being released, we have had requests for an additional 100 prints. Now, apart from the theatres that were already screening the film on the day of the festival, a 100 more theatres are screening the film. This is a noteworthy victory for the actor."The victory assumes significance for the star as after 'Kaavalan', this will be his second straight successful film in a row. His fans, who are aware of the significance of this victory, celebrated it in a manner they thought fit.On Tuesday, 25 fans of the actor prayed for the film to complete its silver jubilee at the Vadapalani Murugan temple. They also tonsured their heads as part of their prayers and celebrated the decision of the Kamala theatre management to screen the film there. The fans, after offering their prayers, then made their way to the Kamala theatre and performed a milk abhishekam to the polyvinyl posters of actor Vijay kept there.
What was interesting to note was that women too were a part of this celebration. The fans burst crackers and danced to popular numbers before dispersing from the venue.Around 25 die-hard Vijay fans tonsured their heads as an offering to Lord Murugan at Vadapalani Temple in Chennai for the success of Vijay's recent release Velayudham. Apart from that they also made a 'paada yatrai' from the temple to Kamala theatres to celebrate the success. Ever since the release of the film, theatres are flooded with Vijay fans to watch their favourite star on screen. Vijay's powerful punches, electrifying dance sequences, sister sentiment and songs (especially 'Chillax' and 'Sonna Puriyadhu') make Velayudham a complete entertainer. And now due to tremendous demand from fans across Tamil Nadu, theatres owners have asked for more prints. The film is produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by jayam Raja.Diwali could spell success with a capital ‘S’ for Hansika, the hot and happening girl in K’town, as all eyes turn to her Diwali release Velayudham with Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay. The vivacious girl’s glam quotient is said to be one of the highlights of the flick. With the kind of feedback she’s already begun getting, Hansika says she is thrilled as well as excited. She’ll be celebrating Diwali with her family in Mumbai. “The Diwali fever started from Sunday. Lots of my good friends, including Tamannah, are sending me messages wishing me for my ‘big day’.Normally, I don’t watch my films in the theaters. Only my mother watches them on the first day, first show and gives her comments.Velayudham is special to me and so this time I have decided to go to the theater to observe the audience mood and reactions. There are a lot of Tamilians in Mumbai and Velayudhamis being released here in the city in a big way.But I will just watch the fans and slip away quietly without seeing the film.” On her Diwali plans: “We will have a family get-together and perform the Lakshmi pooja at home. I will also go to the mandhir. Later in the evening we are planning a rocking bash at home, where our friends will gather to celebrate.
