It turned out to be a evening where old friends got together and took a walk down memory lane. Javed Siddiqi's book launch was the perfect excuse forShabana Azmi, Gulzar and others to get together and reminisce about the old days.
Gulzar was heard speaking about Javed, who's been a friend of his for many years now. "I can well relate to Javed's life and experiences since we both go back to the same time and age.
Our childhood and growing up years were almost the same too," said Gulzar. The description of Bombay with its nooks and streets mentioned in the book brought back early memories, he added. Talking further about how similar they both are, Gulzar said, "Javed saab also mentions in his book the humiliation and snide comments from relatives who thought that he will be good for nothing when he grows up. I also had to go through a similar experience when people told me I will be unable to eke out a living, probably drive an autorickshaw and eat at langars to feed myself!"
