After being incarcerated for allegedly raping his maid, Shiney Ahuja, who has been promoting his film Ghost, has been offered a cameo inBarfee by his good friend and filmmaker Anurag Basu.
He made headlines for allegedly raping his maid. But it seems that Shiney Ahuja is eager to redirect attention to his career and put his incarcerated days behind him. And we hear that his good friend and filmmaker Anurag Basu has made it his mission to help the actor kick-start his career in Bollywood again.
A source informed Mumbai Mirror that Shiney has not only started promotional work on his film Ghost, but has also been offered a cameo in Basu's next, Barfee.
The source explained, "Anurag Basu has created a special scene for Shiney in Barfee. The actor's sequence comes at a very important juncture in the film. Now, it is up to Shiney to decide whether he wants to do the cameo or not."
While Shiney is keen to get back to the silver screen, the source revealed that the actor is uncertain about making a comeback with a cameo appearance. "In Ghost, which will release soon, Shiney plays the lead role. And so, he is in two minds about doing a cameo in Barfee, as he has been clearly told that Ranbir essays the lead. However, he trusts Anurag and is more likely to agree," added source.
When contacted, Basu confirmed that he has indeed offered a cameo to Shiney. The actor told Mumbai Mirror, "Anurag has been a pillar of strength. He told me, 'You look after the court cases and don't worry about your career. I am there.' He has stayed true to his words."
Previously, Basu and Shiney worked together in the 2006 romantic-thriller Gangster, which was regarded as the actor's big break in the industry. He then went on to work in the filmmaker's 2007 drama Life In A...Metro. Despite the two's attempts to collaborate after that, circumstances did not permit.
If Shiney does agree to do a cameo in Barfee, he will join other cast members - Ranbir, Priyanka and Illeana.
Shiney Ahuja, Sayali Bhagat were seen promoting their upcoming Hindi film Ghost at Andheri Mumbai on the 7th of November.
The film produced by Bharat Shah is scheduled for December 16 release. The film is directed by Puja Jatinder Bedi.
Actor Shiney Ahuja and former beauty queen Sayali Bhagat were clicked by the cameramen as they promoted their upcoming movie Ghost, in Mumbai.
Anyhow, here’s some good news for Shiney Ahuja: After the actor took legal action against the company, Micromax Mobile has withdrawn the ‘Bai commercial’.
Recently, Dale Bhagwagar, Shiney’s publicist was quoted as saying: “As we know, Shiney had challenged his conviction and the Mumbai high court has admitted his appeal, which is currently pending hearing. For the mobile company to air such a commercial influencing public opinion when Shiney's appeal is pending hearing is equivalent to contempt of Court.”
Anyhow, speaking about the movie, Ghost has been produced by Bharat Shah and directed by Puja Jatinder Bedi. Interestingly, Sayali Bhagat, who plays the female lead in the movie, recently accused Shiney of sexual harassment!
