Gossip has it that actor Emraan Hashmi, who is used to the limelight, feels that Vidya is stealing his thunder in the 'The Dirty Picture'...
Actor Emraan Hashmi, who has managed to carve a niche for himself, isn't quite pleased with the promotions of 'The Dirty Picture', or so we hear, what with Vidya Balan being treated to all the limelight thanks to her raunchy character.
Emraan known for his on-screen kisses and fantastic songs that always makes it to the top of charts suddenly finds himself at the wrong end of the stick is what is being said. But the unit members and the director, Milan Luthria deny every such triviality.
"Emraan has made himself available for every possible promotion. All actors knew the scope and length of their characters, and each and every one of them has an important part to play. Why then would they sign the film to begin with? Emraan has no inhibitions whatsoever and is as excited about the movie as anyone else involved in it," says one from the crew.
When we contacted Emraan, he kept it short with, "It's all nonsense" and went on to narrate what a fantastic time he had shooting with Milan Luthria. Milan and Emraan have worked together before in 'Once Upon a Time In Mumbai' and get along well.
Actress Vidya Balan, who is hitting the headlines these days for her upcoming flick The Dirty Picture, has revealed that she wants to do a South Indian movie.
Vidya on Friday visited Bangalore for the promotion of The Dirty Picture organised by a radio station, where she expressed her desire to act in a South Indian movie.
She said, "I have been getting offers from South Indian film industries. I am not being able to take up the movie because of time constraints. If there are good scripts then I wouldn't miss the opportunity."
Talking about her role as Silk Smitha in Dirty Picture, She said, "There is no obvious similarity between Silk Smitha and The Dirty Picture. This film is not exactly based on the biopic of the acclaimed actress of 1980's. Silk Smitha was the only actor who was not apologetic being sensual. But the characterisation in this film is completely based on the script."
Vidaya also revealed that it was really very tough to play the character of Silk Smitha and she worked very hard to get into the role.
The movie is all set to hit the floors on December 2. Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor are playing prominent roles in the movie.
Emraan Hashmi, better known for his on screen kisses and chartbuster songs, is seen doing all the good things off screen after doing all the ‘Dirty’ stuff on the screen. Quite a busy birdie that he has been for a while now, he was recently spotted in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, for the promotion of his upcoming movie-The Dirty Picture, releasing on 2nd December. I next’s Lucknow office, where he was scheduled to visit, was teeming with eager fans since morning, who were waiting to get a glimpse of their favourite star.
Emraan finally arrived in the afternoon in his white Mercedes. Sporting a cheeky yellow T shirt, blue denims and his trademark aviator shades, Emraan brought alive his on screen persona- cool, trendy and flamboyant! But his interaction with journalists and editors revealed the other side of the actor. He was soft spoken, mellowed and a gentle Johnny. After a brief interaction with I next’s Associate Editor, Ms Sharmishtha Sharma, Emraan opened up for questions. When asked who is the dirtiest in the movie- The dirty Picture, he grinned naughtily and quipped- Each one of us in the movie is dirty! But Nasir bhai is unsurpassable!
He also commended the performances of his co-stars, especially Vidya Balan, who seemed to have broken all the shackles with her portrayal as a raunchy male fantasy. The promos of the movie are highly suggestive and unhindered, expecting to give a good opening to the movie.
Going beyond the movie, Emraan revealed his fondness for Lucknow’s kebabs and how he misses them in Mumbai. Praising I next for doing the praise worthy job of bringing people together with its path breaking campaigns and news, he reminisced his recent stint with I next Patna edition as a guest editor.
This too was quite an experience for him. From serial kisser to serious editor, Emraan, in Patna I next, suddenly found himself in an unusual terrain. But the funky actor was spot on right from the word GO. He sank into the editor’s chair with stunning confidence. Showing a discerning insight, he had his say on everything; right from sports to politics, from society to business. He was quite finicky about the news selection weighing each news item on its value and relevance. He liked I next web portal and was keen to know how it is managed, with so many features and options for the users. He seemed to be pretty impressed with the layout and page designing of I next too, and specially liked Chai time and Leisure pages. Tussar Kapoor, who too accompanied him to the I next office, was also much sought after more so because he was the birthday boy. He cut the delectable Black Forest cake in the presence of I next staff and praised them for bringing to the readers, something unique and different all the time.
In both these visits, Emraan displayed immense resonance with the paper’s youthful verve and its vibrant streak, just like his on screen charisma and enticing charm of an incorrigible next door lover. Till it remains like this, both the readers and the audience would continue to have- A Rosy Picture!
The superstitious Ekta Kapoor is leaving no stone unturned in making sure her next project The Dirty Picture tastes success at the Box office. The producer will be visiting not one, but four shrines in different parts of the country to seek divine intervention.
An insider at Kapoor's production house tells us that Ekta will be visiting the shrines between November 15 and 28. In the meanwhile director Milan Luthria, Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor will be promoting the film.
According to the source, "First, she will head to Ajmer Sharif, and a day after returning from there, she will go to the Kali Ghat temple in Kolkata. Since Guwahati is closer from there, she will head to Kamakhya Devi temple before returning to Mumbai. At last, Ekta will go to Tiruparti Balaji."
"It's not only ironical, but also the exact opposite in terms of the context of the movie's subject," conceded our source.
Although she has denied being superstitious, Ekta has steadfastly maintained that she belongs to a religious family and it's only normal for them to pray to the deities before starting a new venture. A devotee of Lord Balaji, she always flies down to Tirupati before the release of a new project.
